Are these edible. There were so many growing on the ends of cut down cottonwoods.

Nein, nicht essbar. Das ist ziemlich sicher ein Haarschleierling. Eine Freigabe zum essen kann nicht mit einem Foto gemacht werden.

An ID from somebody here is not enough on its own to confirm an edible species, it’s just a start. Also these specimens are a bit old, which makes ID more difficult and is enough for me to recommend not eating them regardless. Personally, I photographed and IDed hundreds of mushrooms before I ever ate one that I collected.
